Volkswagen Sachsen GmbH was founded in 1990 and is a 100% subsidiary of Volkswagen AG. With around 13,000 employees, it is the largest private employer in the Free State. While economical petrol engines are built in Chemnitz, a total of around 1,500 fully electric vehicles roll off the production lines every day in Zwickau and Dresden.
